    The Design Manager is a cross-functional leader, working across Real Estate, Legal, Construction, Developers and Landlords and is primarily responsible for all design and architectural documents for new projects.  



    • Manages the execution of the design strategy by adapting and deploying the Design Standards and code requirements for preschools. Responsible for developing multiple areas of expert knowledge in architecture, engineering, and interior design guidelines and protocols per state and local jurisdictional mandates, company standards and best practices
    • Supervises and organizes outsourced architects, engineers, contractors and vendors in the development of schematic, design and construction drawings and performance specifications on new and franchised projects
    • Leads design meetings with appropriate stakeholders
    • Ensure that the construction documents are consistent and accurate with company design and brand objectives, jurisdictional codes and architectural and quality standards
    • Support construction teams, consultants and/or contractors with clarifications and revisions during the bid and construction period
    • Manage projects in accordance with relevant milestones and schedules
    • Manages design changes and modifications for impact on the project development budget
    • Establish global processes, strategies and procedures for the department
    • Develop and maintain construction drawing masters
    • Develop and manage FFE vendor relationships and contracts
    • Develop and facilitate value engineering processes, procedures and cost ideas
    • Resolve global issues with vendors, consultants, developers and contractors
    • Establish and manage relationships with center operations, developers, landlords and franchisees
    • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations



    • 10 years of experience in retail or preschool development, preferably with a multi-unit retail company with an emphasis on new stores.
    • 5 years’ experience leading and managing remote team members, evaluating and selecting outside vendors and contractors.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or Business preferred but not required.
    • Demonstrated project management skills with multiple projects.
    • Strong knowledge of budgeting processes along with working knowledge of accounting practices.
    • Strong knowledge of RE practices, building and equipment life expectancy.
    • Understanding of land development processes including the due diligence, jurisdictional approval processes, utilities, surveys, Phase I, geotech, etc
    • Ability to interact with Developers, Landlords, General Contractors and TLE employees in a positive manner and promote a cooperative working environment.
    • Ability to foster enterprise-wide thinking and drive execution of corporate programs and initiatives.
    • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with customers, franchisees, vendors and team members at all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to travel 10% to 25% of the time and to any location where the Company operates.
